Enid, OK: Market Report for December 7, 2004

It’s a great market still! High quality calves still bringing over $600.00 a head! Lots of good bred cows and pairs bringing over $1000.00! Eight weight steers still bringing over $100.00! It is definitely a sellers market!

Let’s all keep in mind that in all the years that markets have been recorded, there’s been more feeder cattle sold under $700.00 than above. Here we are selling calves off the cow for as much as $700.00 a head! These are prices to frame and put on the wall! Even if the market drops $10.00 a hundred, it’s still historically high!

One of these days, the borders will open up. It may put a damper on the mental aspect of the market, but factually should not amount to much. Our demand is at all time highs, and it seems people are realizing the nutritional value of beef as well as the great taste!

The BSE joyride is nothing more than that. I wish they would come out and find a whole herd of them! There is no scientific proof it affects humans in any way, so let’s stop making mountains out of mole hills.

We’re looking forward to a great couple of sales for the last part of the year. Next Tuesday, December 14, we will be having two complete herd dispersals, several bred heifers, and lots of good calves! The market is excellent!

Enid, OK: Market Report for Nov. 30, 2004

Market report for November 30, 2004

Still lots of activity before the end of the year! The market is holding together very well, most calves and yearlings still bringing over $100.00. Young bred cows and pairs bringing up to $1400.00, with the older cows kind of $800.00 and below. The media reports about mad cows apparently is being treated for what it is-manure. It’s nice to know that sometimes the facts are taken into account.

We’ve had wonderful moisture in a large area. In some places, maybe a little too much for right now, but it’s still a whole lot better than dust blowing! It looks like spring time might be pretty green. The wheat is either big is most places, or not planted at all.

We have just a few more sales before next year. Winter Livestock in Enid is having several outstanding consignments coming up in the next few weeks, and lots of opportunities for everyone.
