2029 CATTLE SOLD
Even with all the moisture this winter and early spring, the last several weeks of wind and warm weather has dried things up. We’re seeing cattle coming a few weeks early, which is probably ok, considering the market!
Several pairs, bred cows and heifers offered for sale this week. There is sure a lot of interest in these young pairs! The bred cows look like a very good commodity to own! They sure look like a good buy when a 650 lb calf might bring $800.00, and you can buy a decent bred cow for $800.00 or $1000.00! That’s a 2 for 1 deal!
We have a very good situation in the cattle industry. Moisture is back in the west, cattle numbers are down, and demand is up. Yearlings and calves are seeing great demand all the way around. That makes for a very good combination!

The cattle market sure is exciting! We’re seeing stockers selling at all time highs and feeders getting very close to the same. Pairs and bred cows are bringing a tremendous amount of money. Our cattle market is extremely strong at this time, and it sure looks like a sellers market.
The costs going into the cattle are going up also. Gas prices are also at all time highs, fertilizer, seed, even trying to buy grass, are all costing a pretty penny! It will be nice to see these markets stabilize. At some point, these city people buying up all the land will run out of money, and then maybe we can get back to regular business.
This looks like a good time to trade out some older cows. Older cows in good shape that are bred back are bringing as much as $1000.00 for a pair, while you can replace her with a $1300.00 dollar young pair. That’s getting a new cow for $300.00 dollars! I may be missing something, but it sure looks like a good trade to me, especially when a big calf off the cow is worth $600.00!
400 to 600 lb str calves from $125.00 to $145.00, 600 to 900 lb yearling steers from $100.00 to $122.00, with heavy weights from $92.00 to $97.00. Heifer calves from $115.00 to $138.00 and yearling heifers from $95.00 to $113.00!
Excellent demand at the auction this week! 1500 cattle selling in three hours!

It’s a great market to be selling cattle on! Stockers and feeders selling steady to strong. Replacement cattle look higher all the time. Demand for cattle is tremendous! It’s nice to see the market and the green grass growing!
We are experiencing one of the greatest cattle and beef markets of all time! Cutout values are sitting well above the 10 yr average. Calves off the cow are bringing up to $700.00 a head! Pairs and bred cows bringing over $1500.00 in places! Feeder cattle bringing up to $120.00/cwt! That’s a sellers market! Who says that cattle have to weigh 900 pounds to make money! It wasn’t very long ago that we were happy to get $550 for a yearling steer, let alone a 300 lb calf!
What a country we live in! Our economy is so good we can drive Hummers that get 8 miles per gallon when gas is costing over $2.00! What a blessing (or curse) credit cards are! Thank goodness there’s enough money left over to go out to dinner every other night! Take advantage of the marketing opportunities you have.
