Enid, OK: Market Report for March 29, 2005

WINTER LIVESTOCK, ENID, OK

Another great market! All classes of cattle are enjoying a tremendous market. Calves off the cow bringing up to $160.00, with some baby calves bringing $375.00! Stockers and feeders look higher again this week. Cattle suitable for grazing bringing up to $130.00, with cattle heading to the feedyards from $100.00 to $115.00

The demand for cattle is unbelievable! It seems like all the feeders in the country need cattle, but it’s hard to find them! The numbers of available cattle are diminishing rapidly, and we probably won’t see that many in the May graze out run. We have great potential for some grass this summer, and the market is reflecting that. Pairs and bred cows selling very well, and it sure seems like there is more buyers than cattle at this moment!

We may be in another era of cattle prices. These prices we’re receiving right now are somewhat unbelievable compared to what they have been over the last fifty years! However, it seems like our market hits a new plateau every so often, and hopefully that is what we are seeing right now. Besides, the agriculture industry definitely needs to catch up with the price of gas and pickups! It’s a sellers market! Try to take advantage of it!

Enid, OK: Market Report for March 15, 2005

WINTER LIVESTOCK, ENID, OK
2053 SOLD TUESDAY, MARCH 15, 2005

It’s a tremendous market! Lots of nice quality, native cattle here in Enid this week! Stocker and feeder cattle selling fully steady to strong. Butcher cattle look stronger also. Not enough stock cows or pairs to test the market.

Where else but at the auction can you sell a stocker animal for more dollars per head than a feeder! We had a very wet winter, and the cattle are carrying a lot of compensatory gain. If our gains weren’t as good this year, it’s actually a blessing because of what they are bringing right now!

We are getting a great deal of interest in your cattle at Winter Livestock from northern buyers, internet buyers and local buyers. Our internet video is making your cattle available to a lot more people across the United States. Come take a look!

We will be having a special bred cow and pair sale on Tuesday, March 29! Consign your cattle early for maximum advertising and exposure! We have a radio broadcast every Mon, Tues, and Wed at 8:20 am on 99.7 KNID! You can also see the markets in the High Plains Journal and at www.winterlivestock.com!

Enid, OK Market Report for March 8, 2005

WINTER LIVESTOCK - ENID

2000 CATTLE SOLD TUESDAY, MARCH 8, 2005

Another tremendous market this week! Stocker and feeder cattle are certainly higher with demand from the northern feedyards very strong. The cattle coming off the wheat are not as big or fleshy as usual, and the lighter weights are attractive for grazing.

The winter gains have been mostly between 1.5 and 2 lbs a day, but the last few weeks of nice weather have probably upped that a little bit. The overall market got a big shot in the arm with the border remaining closed, plus, we are going into spring time with ample moisture and grilling season coming along.

We had an excellent selection of light yearlings and good feeder cattle this week. Here are just a few representative sales:

Enid, OK: Market Report for March 1, 2005

WINTER LIVSTOCK, INC. – ENID
March 1, 2005

The calf and stocker market has sure reacted to all the moisture we’ve had! The border remaining closed with Canada may have helped some too! Grass and graze out wheat should both be abundant this spring. We’ve had excellent moisture, the sun has been coming out, and temperatures have been well into the 50’s and 60’s, all this should help things grow.

Several 350 to 450 lb steers bringing up to $150.00 or better, with 500 to 600 lb steers up to $125.00. Seven weight steers with condition bringing up to $114.00. Those heading for the feedlot bringing $100.00 to $105.00. Eight weight steers bringing in the mid to high 90’s with heavier cattle bringing in the low to mid 90’s. Stocker heifers bringing from $105.00 to $125.00 while yearling heifers for the feedlots are selling for $90.00 to $100.00. Some replacement quality heifers bringing more.

Butcher cows this week look steady. The better yielding kind up to $57.00, with the bulk of the cows from $48.00 to $54.00. Bulls bringing from $65.00 to $75.00. Pairs and bred cows bringing up to $1400.00, with that market just starting to react to the grass growing!

It’s a good time to sell cattle! It’s also a good time to grow them some. Every pound we put on them is worth $1.00 and it’s only costing .35 cents to put one on. As a rule, the market will usually peak in January and February, and then slow down until summertime. The market the last couple of years has not followed the normal pattern, so it will be interesting to see what happens!

Take your cattle to the auction! No one else is trying to get more for your cattle! Most of the people are trying to buy them for less! True price discovery is still found in the cattle auction! It’s nice to brag about what your cattle brought at the auction, but its better still to brag about a bigger check to yourself! Don’t let your cattle stand on the truck for hours-that’s $5.00 every time that green stuff goes out of the truck!

We had another excellent sale this week at Winter Livestock! 1963 cattle sold before 5:00! Give us a call to help market your cattle! We appreciate all of our buyers and sellers! Our docks are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! We can get your cattle right on feed and water; they don’t have to stand on the trailer all day! We are here to work for you!

Thank You,

Weston Winter
